Sash windows are associated with the architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries. They make practical and aesthetically pleasing alternatives to casements, with their large glass panels and graceful proportions.
After years of controversy, experts now believe they were originally invented in Yorkshire. They were developed there to keep out wet weather while permitting air to circulate by leaving a narrow opening, and were also protected from rot and distortion by being closed in a box.
Sash windows offered both practical advantages and a more pleasing style than older window designs, and they were popular in both new buildings and as stylish replacements in existing homes. The window tax of the 18th and 19th centuries caused many of these fashionable windows to be taken out again, however. The window with two movable sashes was developed during the Georgian era. Blown glass with bull’s eye markings were the most common form, but still expensive. As techniques improved, larger panes became available and were used to create the characteristic Georgian windows, with narrow glazing bars and six panes in each sash. They are considered characteristic of the Regency style.
The popularity of these windows have remained strong during the Victorian age, but they were ornamented with elaborate decorations. Victorian houses often have large bay windows and elegantly proportioned facades with the windows getting gradually smaller as their height from the ground increases. Four paned sashes are more common in houses built at this time. Imitations of older style windows were also popular towards the end of the 19th century, as the wealthy sought to differentiate themselves from the previously prized plate glass and narrow glazing bars that had became more affordable.
Despite their popularity at the start of the 20th century, sash windows have become less common during the last hundred years, with cheaper, less labor intensive types of window being used instead. Recently people have begun to take an interest in the historic character of their homes, resulting in greater demand for traditional style sash windows. Sash windows today use all the latest technology, but retain the elegance and functionality of traditional sashes, and preserve the historic style of the older houses.

Table skirts can be used to prepare a formal, or even informal, setting for any occasion. It is on banquet tables at wedding receptions and presentation tables at corporate functions that table skirts are most commonly known to be used. Table skirts are comprised of a length of material that is joined to the edge of a table with a set of discrete clamps. Pleated table skirts and shirred table skirts are the two most common kinds of table skirts used.
Choose table skirts in a color that complements the table cloths. This will give your special event, conference or presentation, a completed look. For instance, if you are using theme printed tablecloths, choose colored table skirts that play up a solid color that is found in the theme print of the table cloths. Additionally, many organizations choose table skirts that complement their logo colors or highlight presentation materials they are displaying. Table skirts permit you to conceal items that are stored under the table as well as the unsightly legs of the table itself.
The use of table skirts does not have to be limited to a special occasion or company event. A party inside the home would benefit from the use of table skirts too. A majority of informal in-home functions serve up food buffet style. Use table skirts and you will be able to conceal, below the table, whatever supplies you used for setting up or cleaning up. You might also decide to keep extra table napkins and equipment in back of the table skirts. This makes entertaining simpler for you because you will not have to keep running back and forth between the kitchen and the table.
An internet wholesale company is a terrific source for table skirts. They can supply you with tailored table skirts for a non-standard sized table. Pick from material like sheers, satins, metallics, lace, theme prints and even velvets and velours for the table skirts when you have them tailor-made. After all, not every table skirt has to be produced from polyester.
Besides table skirts, internet wholesale companies also provide table cloths, chair coverings, table napkins, placemats and table lighting accessories. Whether you need to locate accessories for your own dining room, a conference center or a restaurant, you will come across the table linens you need in an assortment of sizes, colors and fabrics. Add a creative touch to your next function by using table linens and by all means, don’t exclude the table skirts.

Firstly, I cannot say I’m pleasantly comfortable as an “independent” (aka: naturally single) person and be 100% truthful. However, I’m not uncomfortable about it, either. I merely mention it on the blogosphere as an ear-catching detail foreshadowing what I will shortly reveal to you
A week ago today yours truly was walking the dog, Trisha, considering buying a membership to a dating service for Phoenix singles. As of this minute, I sit to you as a surprisingly pleased member of the dating service. For real, I am. I like it! If you’ve been paying attention, you’re probably thinking, “Stop blabbering and tell me about it already.”
Well, I looked at these Great Expectations Reviews and can really get behind their approach. They’re for the serious singles who think dating doesn’t have to be so frivolous and stupid.
Because in all honesty I’d never been a fan of whatever it is that serial daters (ie: everyone I know) have christened “dating.” I heard it more than you know. Each night friends pester, “You’re still single? ” and “Please tell me you two are dating.”
“That’s rubbish,” I banter right back, smiling ear to ear. “Have you seen what’s out there?”
“You’re as ridiculous as you are hilarious,” they level with me. “You haven’t dated in a year, you wouldn’t know!”
Leave it to my best friend (she’s the best) hah! Sandy Feldman. She pours reality directly to my core to put me back on course. Loved ones I depend on to offer perspective. No countering that, and I joined.
Back to the message of this essay. As I selected from hundreds of combinations of outfits for my first Great Expectations date, a revelation hit me deep. For the longest time, I hadn’t entertained the greatest of figurative great expectations for dating and myself in the adventurous winding course of being alive. Being single isn’t so bad, only when you get out there and have fun. Holding great expectations makes a difference in dating.
+Christy Palmer
