In no short time, something of a crowd swallowed around me. My numerous unmistaken wins and the commotion of the Chinese folks had brought attention to our poker table very quickly; all of a sudden, countless people were following my bets, while many others watched on from behind. My hands were on fire. I continued to rack up hit after hit, losing here and there, but always coming back with three of four in a row. Each time the roulette ball plopped off under the zone that I’d bet on, a hot, whole-body tingling would come over me, as if the linings of my organs were about to burst with pleasure.
The fact that I’d just gotten out of jail, that my parents were gone, that I was playing with the only money I had on all the earth, in hopes of making enough to get out to Vegas and compete in the WSOP seemed lifetimes away, like a joke I’d been told so many years ago. I played and played, and by the time I stumbled away from the table, dizzy and in need of air, I made more money that I could count, more than I could imagine. I was carrying thousand-dollar chips in stacks too big for my fist, stuffed into my coat and pants pockets. I even wedged a bunch in the cuff of my sock. That made me feel even more sure of myself for some reason. Like I was needed; I had a place. It wasn’t like playing poker online.

There’s so much to learn when you play poker online that it’s easy to get overwhelmed. The key is to focus on getting better one game at a time. Here are three areas with which most poker players have problems.
Be More Selective with Your Starting Hands
One common mistake among new players as well as some experienced players is that they play way too many hands. Your hole cards are the first indicator of how your hand will turn out. Cards with a low flop expectation are not worth betting your money on. Every time you put money into the pot, you face a risk of being raised or in the case of No Limit games, you face the risk of going all in. Know which hands are likely to draw to a good hand on the flop, and keep an eye out for these hole cards:
Be More Aggressive
Another problem that many online poker players face is that they don’t play aggressively enough. Whenever you hear that some player gets a bad beat, it’s often because they weren’t aggressive enough with their betting.
Passive betting allows players to attempt to draw their hand for a minimal amount of chips. If your pocket Jacks turn into a set on the flop, look for hands that can beat yours. If the flop comes out 9 of Clubs, 2 of Spades, and Jack of Clubs, you need to consider that another player may have either a flush or straight draw. A passive player will check or make a minimal raise, which will give his opponents a free look to see if the next card will make their hands.
An aggressive player makes his opponents pay dearly for the right to see the next card. A big enough raise will scare out all but the most reckless of drawing hands and is a very effective way to protect your winning hand.
Work on being more aggressive-if a hand is worth playing, it should be worth raising.
Be More Observant of Your Opponents.
Many players make the mistake of playing their hands the same against every opponent instead of playing each opponent according to his or her strengths. Every time you play poker, it’s important to take the time to learn your opponent’s tendencies and playing styles.
When you play poker, figuring out your opponents should be your first priority. Observe each player and categorize him as well as you can. Try to separate them into tight/aggressive, tight/passive, loose/aggressive and loose/passive players.
The next time you play poker, find a part of your game that needs improvement, and focus on that aspect. Every time you play, focus on improving a single part of your game, and eventually you’ll turn all of your weaknesses into strengths.

Though it often does not come into play in your standard online poker game, the four suits of any deck of cards have a hierarchy of assigned value. In order of their strength, from weakest to most powerful, the suits are: Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, or Spades. In games such as Texas hold em and Omaha, these suits don’t come into play at the casino, and all suits are looked upon with the same value, but in other variations of gambling play, the suits sometimes might be attended to. Often in five card draw the suits will be used to demarcate one hand over the other, in the unlikely event that two players both have a straight of the same high card. The value of the high card in the straight, though, always takes precedence over the suits, so that a 10 high straight will always beat a 9 high straight in poker online, regardless of whether they are clubs, diamonds, or etc. Likewise, an ace high flush will always beat a king high flush, and an AK high flush will be a AQ high flush, etc. Only in the event that all five cards of the flush are the same would the suit ever be potentially considered. Even with the simple set of four entities, remembering the order of suits can be tricky for some. One mnemonic device for remembering their order is that they go in alphabetical order.

Among the many catch phrases made popular by the legendary poker online movie, ‘Rounders,’ comes from a scene between John Malkovich and Matt Damon, where the players are betting heads up against one another at a live table, not a casino online. Damon tosses his bet loosely out onto the table, instead of stacking it in piles in front of him as is the common traditional way to bet. If not an ‘enforced rule,’ it is at least one that in a live poker situation you would look better not having broken. Splashing the pot can also be a more utilitarian type of problem, in that if you splash the pot in a certain way it might be hard to tell what chips were thrown in by you and which were already in.
Though it is not always vital to stick to the traditions and etiquette of a poker table, most often, in doing so you set up a manner in your handling that others will want to reflect. Showboating and acting crazy might have a time and place, but in most situations, be good.

Each day when the tide changes these little crabs from the ocean come out from the water and chill out on the rocks, what are they doing? They are getting away from their day to day life and living it in a way where they can experience something else. It must be some type of awesome get away for them, like a vacation or something.
The rocks have coral on them, and in the coral there are all kinds of tasty snacks for the crabs. They have to be incomplete bliss when they are hanging out on the rocks. The have to get a whole lot of good and beneficial exercise in because each time the tide rises they go higher up on the rocks and then when it lowers they go down further. The sun can beat down bright onto the rocks and the crabs, so it is great that they have that thick protective layer on the outside to keep the strong sunrays away. The beach rocks must be the exotic island getaway that we dream about each day.
When you sit there and watch these crabs you can really see how happy they are that they are getting fed and feeling the sun beat down on them. This creates for a very relaxing time if you choose to watch these crabs, make a day of it and your day to day worries can all of the sudden disappear.

There are lot of questions surrounding online poker and it’s lucrative nature so today we’re going to address a few of those questions and hopefully give some closure to you budding stars.
First, do poker payers pay taxes? Well, yes, they do. Gambling winnings are considered income and are thus subject to the same kind of tax scale as income tax that you would pay if you worked a regular job. However, anything under 500 dollars in the US is considered too small to tax.
What about online poker, is it safer than playing in the casinos? Well yes and no. In any arena where money is involved, there exist people out there to try to cheat or steal it away from you. As far as safe goes, concerning bodily harm, of course online casinos are safer. No one is going to stalk you as you walk out the door with some big winnings after you close your computer. Really it just depends on what kind of safety you’re concerned about. Because of course on the other side of the coin, there exist sites that are solely interested in taking your money online, but those don’t survive for long.
How do you get paid when playing online professionally? Well most of the time the casinos write paper checks that are traceable. This means that you have records for your purposes when filing tax returns. Many of us file as self-employed professionals.
Is there more cheating online? Again, I think this is one of those tough to answer questions. It’d be altruistic to think that all forms of cheating and collusion could be ousted in either venue, online or live. But I don’t think it’s safe to label either one more ridden with scoundrels and cheats. It’s probably about equal, and the cheats seem to be in the very fractionally small minority.
Finally, How do you keep track of whether or not you’re making money in the long run? While this seems like a simple question, it can actually get pretty complex. I like simplicity though, so I usually just use a spreadsheet detailing the amount I’ve spent, the time I played, and a rough estimate of weekly, monthly, and yearly profit and loss. That way, I can gauge a fair estimate of my “hourly-wage,” which is sometimes up there in the triple digits for the week, and others it’s down to less than 10 dollars an hour. I can also estimate my yearly earnings and monthly average among other things that you end up noticing if you’re playing on a regular basis.
