William came back from vacation. He walked into the office and was told that there was an envelope and a silver colored cardboard box on the safe for him. He opened the envelope. It was a form letter congratulating him on thirty years of service. In the box was an award pin in honor of his thirty years. William’s supervisor just dropped everything off on his way through town, while William was on vacation. No personal effort was ever made to thank William for his dedication. No handshake. No phone call. Not even an email.
William took the envelope and box and threw them in the trunk of his car where they remain. I asked him why he didn’t take them out. He responded, “I don’t even want to touch them. They make me feel dirty.” William is not a problem employee. He knows his job and has never been counseled. Each day he comes to work and does his job without supervision. His supervisor works in an office over one hundred miles away. Most companies would be thrilled to have employees that take no supervision. Many companies recognize that motivated employees are an important part of the work team. Some companies show care and concern for their employees. Some have too many cracks that let recognition opportunities slip through.
The company William works for is not a small company. It’s a national company. You would recognize the name. Recognition can be one of the easiest things to accomplish. It lets people know that their work is appreciated. Lack of appreciation is a slap in the face.
William says, “Just when I think I can’t think any less of the company and management, they come up with something new and my opinion is lowered again.” William didn’t have long to wait - just a couple of months.
On a Wednesday, William reported to work and was told to call about a large luncheon in a nearby city to honor all employees with thirty years of service. The president of the company was even flying in to speak and honor those dedicated employees. People were coming from hundreds and thousands of miles away. Nice. Right? The event obviously took planning and coordination. William was told on Wednesday afternoon. The big deal special luncheon was on Friday, less than two days notice. Somehow, William was overlooked . . . again.
William tried to act like the events didn’t bother him and that he wouldn’t have gone even with more notice. In reality, he was depressed. “In my mind I saw the silver package in my trunk and just kept thinking about wasting thirty years of my life,” he confessed.
There is no happy ending to this story. As a matter of fact it got worse. Adding insult to injury, later that day William didn’t collect enough from a sale and finished up with a shortage at the till . . . which he had to pay.
In a USA Today article, A snub really does feel like a kick in the gut, writer Maggie Fox says, “The feeling is familiar to anyone who has been passed over in picking teams or snubbed at a party - a sickening, almost painful feeling in the stomach.” Maggie was writing about social distress. A study has been done with functional magnetic imaging that proves that the brain reacts to rejection and snubbing in the same way it reacts to physical pain. The study was published in the October 2003 issue of Science.
“A social snub and a big-toe stub can generate a similar response in the brain, suggesting emotional and physical pain are more closely related than was previously thought.”
— Anna Salleh ABC Science Online
While no one in today’s business world condones physical violence, it’s amazing what stress and pain can be inflicted by managers who are ill-equipped, ill-advised and ill-prepared to deal with social interactions and situations in the workplace. William should have been recognized for his thirty years of service. He wasn’t. He should have received positive reinforcement for his dedicated work. He didn’t. A few kind words could have soothed hurt feelings. Kind words never came. Recognition motivates. Thoughtlessness produces just the opposite affect.

Work smarter, not harder
What is one of the best ways to work smarter without working harder? The answer is outsourcing. Whether you need occasional or ongoing assistance, outsourcing can save you money and time. Graphic designers, copywriters, bookkeepers, website programmers, office assistants, and other types of professionals are all readily available.
And, there’s a new way of hiring people - the World Wide Web connects independent professionals and small businesses that don’t need or want full-time help. Try typing “Virtual Assistant” into a search engine. You will find a vast array of online resources. According to the International Virtual Assistants Association,
“A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an independent entrepreneur providing administrative, creative, and/or technical services. Utilizing advanced technological modes of communication and data delivery, a professional VA assists clients in his/her area of expertise from his/her own office on a contractual basis.”
This means you can find a virtual assistant for almost any type of work. Are you a plumber who needs accounting? Or a professional speaker who needs help arranging your appointments? Perhaps you would like some help writing proposals, designing a new website, or sending out press releases. You can find someone online for all of these services.
For many “around the office” types of jobs, virtual assistants get paid $20 to $50 an hour. More specialized services such as programming, legal assistance, graphic design, or coaching can cost $75 to $125 an hour. This may sound expensive at first. However, if you are not in need of a person in your office 40 hours every week, it becomes a very cost-effective solution.
While I realize, costs fluctuate widely, let’s look at some sample numbers to compare the typical costs of maintaining an employee versus outsourcing:
Sample costs of a full-time employee
Employee Salary: $36,000/ $17.31/hr.
Two-week paid vacation: $1,385 to cover your employee’s role (more if a temp is hired)
Health Insurance (employer portion for 12 mos.@$150): $1,800
FICA Taxes (7.65%): $2,754
Worker’s Comp. (.61%): $220
Unemployment (State & Fed): $309
Misc. costs (Vision, Dental, Disability & 401K Matching, Profit Sharing & Stock Options): >$3,000
Office Space, Equipment, and Software (100 sq. Ft. @ applicable rate): $2500 ($25/sq. ft. is conservative)
Annual Bonus (1 mo. salary): $3000
Sick Time (10 days/year): $1385
Other intangible costs (furniture, testing, training & fees, sick children, etc.): $1200
Total Typical Costs: $53,553/ $25.75/hr. total effective hourly rate at 100% productivity
At a 75% productivity level, this employee’s cost for actual work becomes $34.33/hour and at a 50% productivity level, it’s $51.50/hour. A full-time staff person is very unlikely to be 100% productive because of idle time, errands, tasks, personal matters, and a learning curve for certain functions. This is combined with an employer’s inability to generate work due to distractions, staff meetings, company functions, lack of time to delegate or supervise, and sales fluctuations.
So, depending on the productivity level of a full-time employee, you may be paying up to 3 times his or her actual salary! You do the math! What’s the wise choice? Does an in-house employee save money? In most small businesses, this method simply is not the most cost effective.
Entreprenuer, get your life back!
Outsourcing will save you money, time, and energy. Virtual assistants and other out-of-office professionals own their own equipment with the latest software, they pay their own taxes and benefits, they are experts in their field, they don’t require morale building or training, and they aren’t going to bring their personal problems into your work space. Virtual assistants and outsourced professionals offer even more advantages: they are loyal to their client companies and will support your goals - they will help you generate ideas and allow you more time to make your business more profitable.
So, if you have employees that you are happy with, then of course that’s perfect for your business. Don’t fix what ain’t broke. However, if you find you are paying too much overhead or spending too much time managing, try a virtual assistant. If you need a new type of service, but don’t have the in-house expertise, outsourcing is a great option. There’s a world of online help available at your fingertips.

There is no doubt in my mind that RSS is here to stay. RSS is a
simple and effective means of communicating your message to your
visitors without invading their privacy or spamming them. It has
many benefits over email and there have been many reports of the
death of email due to the continual rise of mass spamming and
non delivery due to spam filters. By no means is email dead, it
is still the best personal communication method besides picking
up the phone. It’s just that RSS does some things much better
than email.
I have been informing and educating webmasters about RSS since I first discovered
the potential of this medium. A whole industry has now grown up
around RSS and now there are d
irectories that specialise in listing RSS feeds and tools
to help you create RSS feeds. Everyone seems to be jumping on
the bandwagon and everybody seems to have their own opinions
about how RSS should be used. Even Google has joined in to offer
adsense
in RSS feeds.
The problem I see is that improper use of RSS may well send RSS
the way of email. Currently it seems that if you publish an RSS
feed the contents of that feed seem to be considered public
domain. The reasons for this is, I believe, to do with the way
content is packaged in RSS, this makes the content easy to
syndicate. It is not that difficult to create a script or
desktop application to strip out the content of RSS feeds and
publish them on someone else’s website. There is even a few
applications being sold for just this purpose.
This has lead to what I consider improper use of RSS feeds to
spam the search engines, this seems to be aimed particularly at
Google. Although not yet widespread yet many webmasters are
cottoning on to the fact that they can get easy content for
their websites without putting in much effort. Although off hand
this may not seem detrimental to you, consider the long term
consequences. Your feed copied hundreds if not thousands of
times and no back links to your site as the links have been
stripped. What if Google decides to penalise due to duplicate
content, the consequences could be that your site is dropped
from Googles listings.
After considering such a scenario I have come up with a few
suggestions. Firstly only publish a teaser paragraph in your
feed that links back to the main article. Although some may
disagree with me as they prefer the full article in the feed, I
truly believe RSS is better suited to notification type
messages. Secondly you can publish some terms in your feed which
states that the contents are personal use only and you should be
contacted for syndication rights. While this will not stop those
determined to copy the content of your RSS feed it will help
raise awareness of the issue.

The first thing you have to remember about your Night Golf event is that it is not a PGA Major event. It is simply a different way to play golf than you normally do. With that in mind, how you set up your course is up to YOU! Some ideas include:
• Move your tees - use an area normally not used for your tee box. Move it to a patch of grass in front of the normal tee, to the left or right of the forward tees - anywhere to minimize wear and tear on the tees. If you must use the tees for the Night Golf event, make sure there is divot mix for the players to use.
• Get the maintenance staff out early! - The morning after your Night Golf event, send someone out with a divot mix bucket (make sure they are labeled if you use different types of grass on your tees than you do in your fairway). Have the staff cover each hole you played the previous night - make sure that they have trash bags and ball mark repair tools for the greens.
• Limit the refreshments until after the Night Golf event - Admittedly, this practice helps to increase laughs on the course during the event. However, it could be the catalyst which lets the guard down for care of the course. You might want to think about letting the players have 1 or 2 beverages prior to the start, and then the participants will want to hang around afterwards talking about their experience. In addition, make every attempt to not allow alcoholic beverages on the course the players.
• Take Hazards out of play - Be sure to mark bridges, creeks, lakes and other potential hazards with light sticks or other methods (Candle bags, pumpkins, etc.).
Light sticks come in plenty of colors so maybe you use red or blue to mark hazards. As in the aforementioned point, if there is a lake or creek in front of your normal tee box, simply move it to the other side for the Night Golf event.
• Limit your exposure - You don’t have to use every hole in your course or feel obligated to start at Hole #1. 4 or 5 of the easier holes that lack hazards and can bring the players back to the club house after the Night Golf event is fine. Another thought is keeping some of the staff available to join groups for the event if they are not familiar with your course.
In summary, just use some basic Common Sense when setting up your course for Night Golf. This will increase the fun factor and the participants inquiring the date for the next tournament.

Some guys have a complicated time keeping a boner and some ladies have really long sex drives, meaning it will take her a really long time to climax Because of this difference in sex drives, love making could turn into an annoying and unsatisfying session. That’s why vibrating dildos might well be helpful. If the man climaxes early in the love making session, or even if the girl just takes longer than her bloke, he can continue to penetrate the gal with the large dildo. That way all sexual activity does not have to end. It gives the gent substantial time to charge his stamina and keeps the woman horny. Hence when the gent is set up to come back into the game, the woman will still be aroused enough to accept the man.
Your most erogenous soft spot is your brain. And as far as countless feminists won’t admit this, the penis is a symbol of power, no matter how massive or small, it is still associated with power. Penetrating your partner with a thick dildo might make a fantasy of power mischief reality. For those who want pleaseure try sex with Sex Toys from Sex Bomb.
Some folks love the sensation of feeling full in their vagina or bottom. Whenever a sexy toy such as a juicy dildo, penetrates the vagina or back passage, the muscles contract around it. Countless people observe the tightening of all of these muscles to be powerfully enjoyable.

“Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam, be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home.”…this quote holds true for most of us. Home is the place where we spend most of our time with our loved ones, and all of us dream of having this perfect place to spend our lives with these perfect people. So, you want your home to be your paradise but you cannot afford it then a home improvement loan can help you achieve this perfection.
Home improvement loan is tailored for those who wish to make improvements in their home. You can undertake any kind of home improvements with the loan money ranging from adding of a bedroom, kitchen, restructuring, landscaping the garden, adding to the safety of the house, electrical and plumbing work, renovation, new furniture or anything you have desired for.
There are two ways of going for the home improvement loans:
unsecured home improvement loans
secured home improvement loans
Unsecured home improvement loans do not require any collateral as security . it is generally ideal for projects costing less in value. However the borrower may have to pay a higher rate of interest to cover for the risk factor of the lender.
Secured home improvement loans like any other secured loan requires property as collateral. Collateral can be in the form of a home, other property in the borrower’s name, a bank account, automobiles, jewellery or any securable asset of the kind. Ideally these are better than unsecured counterpart as they carry flexible terms and lower rates of interest. This is because the lender can be assured of repayment when collateral of sizable value is placed against it.
Home improvement can be required by any body therefore these loans are available to everyone even to people with bad credit. The home improvement loan is a short-term low with an interest rate dependent upon the lending institution and the personal credit of the borrower as well information about the home mortgage and home value.
If you go for home improvement it increases the value of the home which helps the owners when the owner wants to sell the house. It often helps in getting a better deal for the home as a furnished home would fetch a better price then an unfurnished one.
Finding the best home improvement loans is largely a matter of getting quotes from several different lenders and comparing them to see which one offers the best interest rate and loan terms. You can get deals online as well.

Which Monitor Should You Buy?
The PC monitor market is undergoing a sea-change. In recent years, LCD monitors are slowly but surely replacing the traditional CRT monitors. Although they are much more expensive than their comparable CRT counterparts, their prices are slowly falling as demand rises and production costs go down.
This article presents a comparison of both types of monitors in order to help you make an informed choice.
Cathode Ray Tube or CRTCRT monitors use almost the same technology as television sets. In fact, some early CRT monitors were nothing but modified television screens.
The first and most important advantage of a CRT monitor is the cost. One can get a larger monitor, with better display quality, for less money than an LCD monitor. CRT monitors have been developed by the computer manufacturing industry over 20 years. By now, manufacturers have incurred all the major costs of manufacturing and development for CRT monitors.
The next advantage of a CRT monitor is its multi-sync capability. This means, that the electron gun inside the monitor can adjust itself to a range of resolutions and refresh rates. This capability is particularly useful in gaming, where you need to display multiple resolutions.
CRT monitors are the ideal choice for video applications as well due to their high refresh rates and good response rates.
Lastly, CRT monitors provide much greater color clarity than LCD monitors. It is possible to make numerous adjustments to the color, contrast and brightness. Hence CRT monitors are better equipped to show accurate document colors. This is of particular import to professionals in the printing and graphics businesses.
Liquid Crystal Display or LCD
The small size and light weight is the biggest advantage of an LCD monitor over a CRT monitor. Their thickness commonly ranges from 1 to 3 inches while a CRT monitor can be as much as 24 inches thick from front to back. This means that an LCD monitor is portable and can be easily moved around, or even hung on a wall.
LCD screens also produce less fatigue to the eyes as compared to CRT screens. CRT screens produce constant light and scan lines which strain the eyes of the user. The LCD monitors have lower intensity and a constant display of pixels on the screen whether on or off, and are less taxing on the eyes.
LCD monitors require a much lower amount of constant voltage in order to function than do CRT monitors.
However, LCD monitors, being new technology, are more expensive than CRT monitors. By way of example, a 19″ CRT monitor can be purchased at almost half the cost of an LCD monitor. However, as demand for LCD monitors rises, production costs will fall and this will be reflected in reduced prices.
LCD screens have a fixed or native resolution. This means that they can display only a set maximum number of pixels and no more. This often results in blurred or unclear images.
In LCD monitors, when bright images are flashed against a dark background, a ‘ghosting’ of moving images can occur on the screen. This means that even when the monitor is turned off, slight after images can be seen on the display for a few seconds.

Notebook computer shipments are estimated to be around 127M units this year, which is colossal! Taiwanese manufacturers have said part scarcities will affect fullfilment this year due to the big demands. In fact if anything has dented demand or sales of laptops then its been limited supplies of parts. Whatever you do you’re playing with technology that is evolving all the time so its difficult to keep up to date.
I’ve seen an increasing amount of people asking for gaming laptops. These notebooks are also increasing in value because of the tough competition faced from cheap laptops. The speed of gaming laptops has greatly optimised and its really a reasonable means of gaming. Even more indredible these days I feel is how sleek the designs are getting especially when you think about much speed is in them. With that said gaming laptops should never be thought of in the same league as their desktop counterparts. There will be a difference and the issue here is that its not a enormous deal breaker for the masses. It seems as if everyone is obsessed with making sleeker, portable notebooks and I’m sure we will see gaming laptops like that in the near future.
There are always those individuals that require a laptop custom built because they want to use it for specialised work. On occasions, with bigger companies the quality of the core parts is not that good. The great thing is that you don’t end up coughing up for needless additions you don’t require. The vast amount of laptop computers are designed for the normal consumer which means you may not find what you’re looking for. You can get a more suitable laptop by one built to spec. There are numerous small notebook builders here and there that offer superior customer care. This would be a large seducer to a handfull of niche sectors.
Next gen notebooks do look like an appealing proposition. The amazingly low cost laptop group seems to be drumming up all the exciting at the moment. I don’t feel anyone thought they would be received that well. I feel consumers would prefer to see bigger notebooks that weigh a lot less than the present technology. I’m certain that companies already have their plans made up. From the trends it looks like gaming laptops will become slimmer and faster. What will be released next? Begin employing your imagination.
I found a few really good gaming systems at http://www.rizeon.com/gaming_laptops/page.php

The Hero’s Journey is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters.
The Hero’s Journey:
• Attempts to tap into unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story is and how it should be told.
• Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.
• Interpreted metaphorically, laterally and symbolically, allows an infinite number of varied stories to be created.
The following SUMMARY uses Million Dollar Baby - Academy Award Winner Best Film 2005 as an example. It should be noted that there are two heroes in this story, a) Maggie and b) Frankie:
Call to Adventure - where the hero is pushed to resolve a challenge. Maggie needs to escape her White Trash roots and Frankie needs to resolve issues concerning his daughter.
Refusal of the Call - where there is refusal, resistance, warning and foreboding. Frankie refuses to train Maggie.
The Supernatural Aid - where a mentor encourages the hero along the path. Eddie (Morgan Freeman) begins to help Maggie with her training and simultaneously guides Frankie towards her. As is usual, the supernatural aid has a challenge of his own (Danger Barch).
First Threshold - where a point of no return is crossed. Maggie persists in the gym. There is no dissuading her or going back for her.
Physical Separation (Belly of the Whale) - where the hero physically separates from his Old World and heads into the Transformation. Willie leaves Frankie, who has little else to do but train Maggie.
Transformation (Road of Trials) - where the hero significantly, but not completely, transforms. Maggie becomes a professional boxer.
The Ideal and the Seizing of the Sword - where the hero faces a difficult choice and journey to (often) the heart of the antagonism. Maggie buys her family a house and Frank takes on the role of father.
Rebirth Through Death - where the Hero is reborn. Eddie saves Danger Barch from the gym bully; Maggie doesn’t know what to do about the bear.
Atonement with the Father - where the hero confronts the obstacle to the apotheosis. Maggie loses to the blue Bear.
Apotheosis - where the hero has the illumination. Maggie should have listened to Frank and protected herself.
Ultimate Boon - both hero and heroine get a family.
Refusal of the Return - where the hero is repulsed by his Old Self or, on a practical level, there is refusal on some level. Frankie refuses to go back to the gym.
Magic Flight - where the hero attempts to escape from the antagonism or, for some reason, is unable to confront it. Frankie takes Maggie away and attempts to find doctors who can reverse the situation.
Rescue for Without - where the hero is pulled back toward his or her challenges. Maggie’s family return; Frankie wants to replace them and resists their arrival.
Crossing the Return Threshold - where the hero confronts the antagonism. Maggie loses her legs and asks Frankie to kill her.
Master of the Two Worlds - where the antagonism is defeated. Frankie kills Maggie.
Freedom to Live - where the hero is freed from the antagonism. Frankie does not return to the gym.
